What To Do WIth Clogged Drains

There is no worse feeling than clogged drains, it does not matter if they are in the bathroom or the kitchen. It is often easier to prevent clogged drains than to fix them, but that does not help you once it happens. There are many ways to attempt to correct any obstructions.

If possible, you need to identify what the obstruction is in the pipes. The potential remedy is dependent on knowing what caused the problem. There are different methods to use if the obstruction is a foreign object rather than the usual waste the goes down the pipes.

A washcloth down the bathtub drain is often best fixed by using the suction of a wet/dry vacuum. By closing off any holes that are in the line and placing the vacuum hose in the drain, it is often possible to suck the washcloth out of the drain without having to contact a plumber. When you are done, it is possible for your bathroom to not smell very good since you have been sucking the washcloth out of the pipe.

If the kitchen drain is just draining slowly, and not completely clogged, it may be possible to clear the obstruction with vinegar and baking soda. This combination works like a homemade volcano and will hopefully eat through anything that is slowing the drain.

It does not matter why you have clogged drains, the only thing that matters is getting the drains open and free flowing again. If these methods do not work, then it is likely that you will need to consult with a reputable plumber to help you with your problem. Many times the difficult clogs need a professional’s touch, and the better tools that they have to use. No matter what you do, do not try to mix different chemicals without a professional there.
